The SkinPen Precision system is a microneedling device used to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, facial acne scars and other scaring such as trauma or surgical, melasma, hyperpigmentation or irregular skin tone.

The SkinPen is the only FDA-cleared micro-needling device available. Hitting reset on your skin can be as simple as a 45-minute microneedling treatment. SkinPen creates micro-channels (microscopic holes) at a rate of 1600 per second.  These wounds stimulate your skin, kicking its healing process into high gear.  Best of all, SkinPen doesn’t rely on heat or chemicals, so the results are natural and safe for all skin tones and types.

Nurse Natalie

It is important to remember that each client and treatment is completely unique.  Your exact requirements and results will be discussed in detail with

Natalie.  The whole process from start to finish usually takes approximately 60-90 minutes and downtime is minimal - typically a day or two.

The SkinPen microneedling treatment is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that stimulates the skin's natural healing process to improve texture, tone, and overall skin appearance. Here's an overview of the treatment process:

1. Consultation:

During your consultation with Natalie, your skin concerns, goals, and medical history will be discussed to determine if SkinPen microneedling is suitable for you.

2. Preparation:

Before the procedure, the treatment area is cleansed, and a topical numbing cream may be applied to minimise any discomfort during the microneedling process.

3. Microneedling Treatment:

The SkinPen device, equipped with fine, sterile needles, is gently moved over the skin's surface. The microneedles create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, triggering the natural production of collagen and elastin. The depth of the microneedles can be adjusted based on the specific needs of the treatment and the targeted areas. This customisation allows for precision in addressing various skin concerns.

The micro-injuries induced by the microneedles stimulate the skin's healing response, leading to the production of new collagen and elastin fibres. This process helps improve skin texture, reduce fine lines, and promote a more youthful appearance.

4. Post-Treatment Care:

After the microneedling session, a soothing serum or post-procedure skincare products may be applied to the treated area to enhance the healing process. Your practitioner will provide specific post-treatment care instructions, which may include avoiding sun exposure and certain skincare products for a specified period.

5. Recovery:

The downtime associated with SkinPen microneedling is generally minimal. Some individuals may experience redness, swelling, or mild discomfort, which typically subsides within a few days.

6. Follow-up Sessions:

For optimal results, a series of microneedling sessions may be recommended, spaced a few weeks apart. The number of sessions depends on individual skin concerns and goals

7. Results:

Over the following weeks, as collagen production continues, patients often notice improvements in skin texture, tone, and the appearance of fine lines.

It's important to have SkinPen microneedling performed by a trained and experienced professional to ensure safety and efficacy. If you have any concerns or questions about the procedure, discussing them with your practitioner during the consultation is advisable.

Following post-care instructions is crucial for achieving optimum results.

SkinPen treatment works in three simple steps, designed to activate the skin’s natural healing process. Following each session, the skin begins to heal itself, looking more renewed and rejuvenated over time.  SkinPen is only used in professional settings and delivers dramatic results without the use of heat or chemicals.

(One) Inflammation

SkinPen’s microneedles penetrate the skin’s surface, triggering a natural immune response to disinfect, remove debris, increase blood flow, and activate the creation of new tissue.

(Two) Proliferation

The microchannels or tiny holes created by SkinPen are rebuilt with new granulation cells that include collagen proteins. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.

(Three) Remodelling

New dermal tissues form, rich in collagen and elastin proteins. These proteins improve skin quality, visibly reducing facial acne scars and neck wrinkles, leaving skin more smooth, radiant, and younger-looking.

Q. What is SkinPen™?

A: SkinPen™ is the world's first FDA-approved microneedling device which create hundreds to thousands of "micro" skin punctures per second to stimulate the skin's natural wound healing process - inflammation, proliferation and remodelling - to prompt tissue remodelling without causing scar tissue formation. The medical-grade, state-of-the-art precision tool addresses acne scars and the signs of ageing.

Q. How does SkinPen™ work?

A: SkinPen is a medically engineered ergonomic device crafted from 14 Japanese stainless steel surgical-grade needles to administer effective and precise vertical skin needling. Unlike manual rollers, SkinPen™ offers tailored treatments with varied needle depth settings, reducing skin trauma caused by roller devices, which often use a fixed depth setting.

Q. What makes SkinPen™ unique?

A: Unlike the majority of microneedling devices, SkinPen™ has passed over 90 validated requirements to receive CE and FDA certification. It also uses a disposable Bio-Sheath and sealed cartridge system to prevent cross-contamination. The patented technology delivers vertical channels into the skin minimising damage, downtime and discomfort.

Q. What conditions can a SkinPen™ clinical procedure treat?

A: SkinPen™ effectively addresses various skin concerns like ageing, wrinkles, UV damage, rosacea, acne, dilated pores, milia, scarring, stretch marks, and more.

Q. Is the treatment safe?

A: Absolutely. SkinPen™ clinical treatment may only be performed by a qualified SkinPen™ practitioner. All treatment consumables are single use and sterile. SkinPen’s patented – and single-use – sterile needle cartridge is built with safety in mind. SkinPen™ is also surrounded by a custom-designed BioSheath that acts as a barrier to prevent cross contamination between procedures. That’s part of the reason SkinPen™ is the world’s first FDA-cleared microneedling device. Learn more by reviewing our patient labeling document.

Q. How soon will I see results?

A: Results are often seen after just one SkinPen™ treatment, however cumulative treatments (3-6 treatments at 4-6 week intervals) are usually required to achieve the full desired result. The regenerating process will continue for up to 2 years after treatment.

Q. Is it painful?

A: The unique oscillating system reduces pain by diffusing nerve sensation. Prior to treatment we will apply a local anaesthetic cream to ensure comfort.

Q. What is the downtime?

A: Post treatment the skin will be red, warm and possibly a slight puffiness. You will also experience skin tightness. Any redness typically diminishes within 3-4 hours, and overall redness usually subsides within 24-48 hours.  Skin flaking may also occur in the first few days. These are all normal reactions.

Q. Who is not suitable for this treatment?

A: SkinPen™ should be avoided in certain situations including the following:

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding

  • Roaccutane therapy within the last 6 months

  • Irritated/inflamed skin in the treatment area (e.g. very active acne/rosacea)

  • Current skin infection eg coldsores, fungal, bacterial

  • History of cancer in the previous 5 years

  • Bleeding dysfunction and use of blood thinners

  • History of keloid scars

  • Clients who have active skin cancer in the treatment area(s)

  • Open wounds, sores, or irritated skin in the treatment area(s)

  • An allergy to stainless steel or anesthetics

  • Currently taking drugs with the ingredient isotretinoin (such as Accutane)
