DERMAL FILLER INJECTIONS

Dermal fillers have revolutionised the field of non-surgical cosmetic enhancements, offering a safe and effective way to restore youthful volume, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance facial contours.  Composed of various biocompatible substances, including hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite, and poly-L-lactic acid, dermal fillers are expertly injected beneath the skin's surface to address a wide range of aesthetic concerns. From softening nasolabial folds and marionette lines to plumping lips and rejuvenating jawlines, these versatile treatments provide natural-looking and long-lasting results.  With their ability to seamlessly integrate into existing tissues, dermal fillers have become a go-to solution for those seeking a refreshed, more youthful appearance without the need for surgery.

  • Nasolabial Folds: These are the lines that run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth.

  • Marionette Lines: These lines extend from the corners of the mouth downwards towards the chin.

  • Cheeks: Dermal fillers can be used to add volume to the cheeks, providing a lifted and youthful appearance.

  • Lips: Fillers can enhance lip volume, define the lip border, and smooth out vertical lip lines (smoker's lines).

  • Tear Troughs: This area under the eyes can be treated to reduce hollowing and dark circles.

  • Chin: Fillers can be used to augment and shape the chin, creating a more balanced facial profile.

  • Jawline: Dermal fillers can be strategically placed along the jawline to improve definition and contouring.

  • Temples: Filler injections in the temples can restore lost volume and provide a more refreshed look.

  • Hands: Fillers can rejuvenate the appearance of aging hands by restoring volume and minimizing the visibility of veins and tendons.

  • Scars: Depressed scars, such as those from acne, can be filled in with dermal fillers for a smoother skin texture.

Dermal fillers, administered through injections, offer the ability to add volume to thin lips, refine subtle contours, smooth facial creases, diminish wrinkles, and elevate the appearance of recessed scars. This versatile and safe treatment provides an effective solution for addressing specific concerns and achieving a rejuvenated look.

SAFE & EFFECTIVE TREATMENTS

Dermal fillers are considered safe when administered by qualified and experienced medical professionals. Several factors contribute to their safety:

  1. Biocompatible Materials: Most dermal fillers use substances that naturally occur in the body or are compatible with the body's tissues. Common ingredients include hyaluronic acid, which is naturally present in the skin, and calcium hydroxylapatite.

  2. Non-Surgical Procedure: Unlike surgical procedures, dermal filler treatments are minimally invasive and do not require incisions or anesthesia, reducing the associated risks.

  3. Reversibility: Many dermal fillers are reversible, especially those based on hyaluronic acid. An enzyme called hyaluronidase can be used to dissolve the filler in case of an undesired outcome or complication.

  4. Controlled Administration: Skilled practitioners have a deep understanding of facial anatomy and carefully administer the filler in precise amounts and locations to achieve natural-looking results.

  5. Minimal Downtime: Recovery after dermal filler treatments is typically quick, with most individuals able to resume normal activities shortly after the procedure.

  6. Low Risk of Allergic Reactions: Because many fillers are made from biocompatible materials, allergic reactions are rare. However, individuals with specific allergies should inform their healthcare provider before treatment.

  7. Regulatory Approval: Reputable dermal fillers are rigorously tested and approved by regulatory agencies, ensuring they meet safety and efficacy standards.

  8. Patient Assessment and Consultation: Before treatment, a thorough consultation is conducted to assess the patient's medical history, skin condition, and specific goals. This helps identify any contraindications and tailor the treatment plan accordingly.

At Enhanced, we are focused on providing the most natural-looking results to enhance your appearance.  We remain up to date with the latest industry advancements and technologies guaranteeing our patients receive the best possible care in a safe and sterile environment.

THE TREATMENT PROCESS

It is important to remember that each client and treatment is completely unique.  Your exact requirements and results will be discussed in detail with

Dr Tong.  The whole process from start to finish usually takes approximately 30-45 minutes and downtime is minimal.  Our dermal filler contains the formulated local anaesthetic Lidocaine to ensure this process is as comfortable as possible.

Step One: No Obligation Complimentary Consultation

Your first step is a free consultation with Dr Tong who will answer any concerns you have and discuss your treatment goals.  After taking a your medical history, Dr Tong will suggest what type of procedure is most suitable for you.  You’ll leave understanding the procedure and what to expect from the results.

Step Two: Preparation

The treatment area is cleansed to remove any oils or debris. Topical anaesthesia or numbing cream may be applied to minimise discomfort during the procedure.

Step Three: Marking the Injection Points

Dr Tong will mark specific points on the face where the filler will be injected.  This ensures precise placement and symmetry.

Step Four: Treatment

Using a fine needle, Dr Tong will administer the dermal filler into the predetermined areas.  Filler may be injected in multiple passes, with Dr Tong assessing the results after each pass to achieve the desired outcome.

Step Five: Massaging and Sculpting

After injection, Dr Tong may gently massage or mould the filler to ensure even distribution and optimal contouring.

Step Six: Assessment and Touch-ups

The client and Dr Tong will assess the immediate results.  Additional filler may be added if needed to achieve the desired outcome.

Step Seven: Post-treatment Care

The client is provided with aftercare instructions.

Step Eight: Follow-up

A follow-up appointment may be scheduled to assess the results and address any concerns.

Step Nine: Monitoring and Maintenance

Clients are advised to monitor the results and schedule maintenance treatments as needed to prolong the effects of the treatment.

POST-TREATMENT & RECOVERY TIME

The results from most dermal filler treatments can be seen immediately. However, if there is any swelling it may take a couple of days to ease before the fill results start to show.

Please note that recovery from any treatment is unique to each patient and is something that will be discussed in detail with Dr Tong.  A leaflet will be provided giving information about post-treatment advice.

Post-treatment care for dermal fillers is crucial to ensure optimal results and minimise the risk of complications.

  1. Avoid Touching or Rubbing: Refrain from touching, rubbing, or applying pressure to the treated area for at least 6 hours after the procedure. This helps prevent the filler from shifting.

  2. Avoid Strenuous Activity: Avoid vigorous exercise, heavy lifting, and strenuous activities for at least 24 hours after treatment. This helps reduce the risk of swelling and bruising.

  3. Ice Application: Applying a cold compress or ice pack to the treated area can help reduce swelling and minimize discomfort. Use a clean cloth to cover the ice pack and apply for short intervals.

  4. Avoid Sun Exposure and Heat: Avoid direct sun exposure, saunas, hot tubs, and excessive heat for at least 24-48 hours after the procedure. This helps reduce the risk of swelling and bruising.

  5. Avoid Alcohol and Blood Thinners: Avoid alcohol consumption and medications or supplements that thin the blood (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and certain herbal supplements) for a few days post-treatment. This helps minimize the risk of bruising.

  6. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, which can help improve the appearance of the skin and support the healing process.

  7. Gentle Cleansing: Cleanse the treated area with a mild, non-alcoholic cleanser and pat it dry with a clean towel. Avoid harsh or abrasive products for the first few days.

  8. Avoid Makeup Application: Avoid applying makeup to the treated area for at least 6 hours after the procedure. When applying makeup later, be gentle and avoid excessive pressure.

  9. Be Cautious with Sleeping Positions: If possible, sleep on your back with your head elevated for the first night after treatment. This can help reduce swelling and improve comfort.

  10. Follow the Clinic's Instructions: Adhere to any specific post-treatment instructions provided by Dr Tong. These may vary depending on the individual and the areas treated.

  11. Report any Concerns: If you experience severe or unexpected side effects, such as excessive swelling, pain, or signs of infection, contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Remember that every individual may have unique post-treatment needs, so it's important to follow the specific advice provided by the clinic.  If in doubt, consult your Dr Tong for guidance.

DERMAL FILLER FAQs

Q.Will my face look unnatural or overdone?

A. Both Anti-wrinkle and Dermal filler procedures are a technique-sensitive treatment. You can trust Dr Tong to deliver subtle results, as you are being treated by someone who is licensed, trained and a medical expert in facial anatomy.

Enhanced prides itself on achieving the natural look, resulting in a subtle, enhanced and more youthful appearance. Dr Tong is known for avoiding the fake, overdone look. We believe that less is more.

Q. Do the injections hurt?

A. The procedure is done using a very fine needle, so it feels more like acupuncture, and most clients do not need numbing cream.  If, however, you are needle-phobic or have any anxiety around pain, then numbing cream can be applied. Dr Tong will discuss these options with you during your consultation.

Q. Is the treatment reversible?

Yes, our dermal filler treatment is fully reversible with Hyalase, which dissolves filler quickly and effectively. Dr Tong also treats clients who have had undesirable results from other practitioners

Q. When will I see results?

A. Clients typically see immediate results after receiving dermal filler injections. The effects are noticeable right after the treatment, but there may be some initial swelling and possible bruising that can temporarily obscure the final outcome.

As the swelling subsides over the first few days, the full effects of the dermal filler become more apparent. This is when clients can fully appreciate the improvement in volume, contour, and smoothing of lines or wrinkles.

It's important for clients to have realistic expectations and to follow any post-treatment care instructions provided by the clinic to ensure optimal and long-lasting results. If clients have any concerns about their results, they should promptly contact their Dr Tong for further guidance.

Q. How long will the results last?

A.The duration of dermal filler effects varies depending on several factors, including the type of filler used, the treatment area, and individual factors. At Enhanced we use Juverderm, a hyaluronic acid-based filler. Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are gradually broken down and absorbed by the body over time.

The effects of HA fillers usually last between 6 months to 18 months, depending on the specific product and the treatment area.

Some patients may experience shorter or longer durations based on their metabolism and the location of the treatment.

It's important to note that individual experiences may vary. Factors such as the client's metabolism, lifestyle, and the specific treatment area can influence how long the effects of dermal fillers last.

Additionally, maintenance treatments or touch-ups may be recommended to help sustain the desired results over time. Clients should consult with the clinic for personalised advice on their dermal filler treatment plan.
